CMGS welcomes the Deep Exploration Technologies CRC

November 1 2010

CMGS welcomes the Deep Exploration Technologies CRC (DET) as a client.

DET was granted $28m under the Australian Government's Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program.  The proposal for the Centre was coordinated by the Australian Mineral Industries Research Association and was the result of years of planning and consultation by the mining and exploration industries, academic institutions and state and territory governments.

DET was established to address the most significant challenge to the future of the minerals industry in Australia, ie. the reduction in the mineral resources inventory due to high production rates and low mineral exploration success.  Mineral resources constitute around 50% of the nation's exports.  However, 80% of Australia's mineral production is from mines discovered pre-1980.  The vast majority of Australia's existing mines are located where prospective basement rocks outcrop.  To ensure the futureof the minerals industry, new technologies must be developed to explore greater depths in the vast areas of Australia's deep, covered prospective basement.

We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the staff of DET.  A new Centric-designed website for DET will be available shortly, so watch this space.
